As a company making furniture from - amongst other things – wood, we take our responsibility to the environment seriously and where possible we source wood from FSC and PEFC accredited suppliers.
The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an independent, non-government organisation promoting both the responsible use of forests and the rights of their indigenous people around the world. It creates a chain of custody ensuring that all wood is supplied legally and ethically. The PEFC (Program for the endorsement of forest certification scheme) provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests.
As custom furniture designers, we hold a firm belief that we should source as much wood as we possibly can from local timber merchants who supply wood from well-managed local woodlands. Whilst this wood may not necessarily be FSC or PEFC it is from local, well-managed and known sources.
The furniture design workshop is heated by a bio-mass burner which allows us to burn the wooden off-cuts that we produce throughout the year – this is a great way of reducing both our carbon footprint and our electricity bill.
